STV Local has been described as STV’s iPod moment. It’s a groundbreaking and unique initiative to take STV content to communities at a hyper local level. Launched in September 2010 it is gradually rolling out across the country and will reach over 90% of Scotland’s population, allowing advertisers unique access to most of Scotland’s communities on a joined up or individual basis as advertisers require.
Never before have advertisers been able, through one media buying point, to reach a pan-Scottish audience and drill that audience down both regionally (through STV’s broadcast Micro Regions) and locally; through STV Local.
It will give national advertisers the opportunity to tailor their messages locally to tie in with their distribution network and will give local businesses the opportunity to harness the power of STV’s national reputation, but in their own community.
STV Local will reach out into the community with professional journalistic editorial but will encourage local community groups and individuals to share their own user-generated content in such a way that a highly engaging and involving editorial platform emerges, with a mix of video, photography and written content.
STV Local can be utilised for both advertising and sponsorship on a site-by-site or pan Scotland basis (or any combination between).
